Help a lost bird.......
When the doves from a Dove's Love are around five days old, a band is gently slipped onto their leg. These bands are a sign of a responsible dove owner. Just like when a dog is lost, his chances of finding his home are much better when he wears his collar and tags.
These bands have very specific information on them. Some have the owners phone number directly on them, others have letters and numbers specific to clubs the owners belong to. If you research the letters on the band and go to that club's web site, you will be put in contact with the owner.
If you find a dove or pigeon with a band on his leg, the owner will be very happy to be contacted.
There are many reasons why a homing pigeon might be lost. Some possibilities are they got lost while avoiding a hawk attack, or bad weather. Why do we still fly the birds if they could be lost? The same reason we leave our homes everyday, there is a whole world out there to explore! None of us would like to be closed in our home "just in case".

Sometimes, you can catch the bird by hand, or with a little safflower seeds. A light towel or net can be used to gently catch the lost bird. If you are able to keep you eye on the bird, waiting till dark, when the bird is quiet and still might be your best bet.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help these beautiful birds find their homes.
